As we continue to explore the concept of Flow in our study of LeadershipFlow it will be necessary to draw on the works of experts in the study of Flow. To help those who wish to learn more about flow here are some helpful resources:
Let’s begin with the book, The Rise of Superman, Decoding the Science of Ultimate Human Performance, written by Steven Kotler, the co-founder of the FlowGenome Project. He looks at how extreme athletes are pushing the boundaries of human performance. Kotler relates how flow affects the body and performance through stories about their astonishing feats. Even if you are not a fan of extreme athletes, this book will open your eyes on the subject of flow.
The FlowGenome Project. As stated on their website, the mission of the FlowGenome Project is “…a trans-disciplinary, international organization committed to mapping the genome of Flow by 2020 and open sourcing it to everyone.” Their website is full of videos and current thinking on Flow. This is a great site to visit, if not just for the videos.
Here are the books written by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, the man who is considered the original researcher on Flow.
      Good Business, Leadership, Flow, and the Making of Meaning.  In this book, Csikszentmihalyi looks at Flow in the business sense and how it affects leaders.
      Flow, The Psychology of Optimal ExperienceThis books goes the deepest of all of Csikszentmihalyi’s books on Flow.
     Finding Flow, The Psychology of Engagement with Everyday Life. This book is more towards finding Flow in one’s personal life.
